Hypnotherapy & Coaching

Hi I'm Leah.

I'm a certified hypnotherapist, coach and internationally-published author based in London, UK.

I discovered hypnotherapy a few years ago during a period of personal upheaval and crisis. I know it works, because it changed my life for the better.

In 2022, while researching a book on the subject, I enrolled in a qualification course at the respected UK College of Hypnotherapy & Hypnosis and fell in love with the practice. After qualifying I began seeing clients two days a week (in-person and remotely via Zoom) in my bright cosy garden shed in Kensal Rise, UK. Since then my practice has grown by word-of-mouth and I now treat clients all over the world.

I’ve recently expanded my practice to include creative and corporate coaching, because some people prefer a more conversational approach.

I am also available for public speaking, on-stage leadership events and run corporate workshops from time to time.

Welcome to the shed

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, non-invasive therapeutic treatment that has well-evidenced  physiological benefits and no negative side effects.

A session in my shed begins with a 20-30 minute conversation followed by 30-minutes of targeted hypnosis. Being hypnotised is a pleasant, restorative experience, a bit like having a verbal massage.

During the treatment, the client simply lies back on my sofa (or at home) and are then guided into a deep state of relaxation through visualisation, words and music. Once I'm satisfied the client is in a fully "susceptible" state I then make positive suggestions in accordance with their stated desires and goals.

Most clients remain fully conscious and aware throughout my hypnotherapy sessions. There is no loss of physical or mental control and we can pause at anytime.

I think of it as meditation with a purpose. Or yoga for people who can't be bothered.

By subtly shifting our unconscious thought patterns in a more positive direction, we can change our habits and, in turn, improve our lives.

My Coaching practice is rooted in personal rapport and trust.

Whether you are focussed on a single goal, going through a challenging transition, struggling with an emotional or health-related issue or simply wish to reflect and take stock, I am here to listen and offer you guidance and support.

As a coach I can help you put in place systems to help ensure you remain accountable to yourself and reach your desired goals, whether they are work-related or personal.

I am not squeamish, judgemental or afraid of big emotions. Whoever you are, whatever your issue, let's talk it through in the shed.

Issues I treat:

Increasing self-esteem and confidence

Boosting relaxation and better sleep

Reducing stress, anxiety and intrusive, negative thoughts

Increasing creativity, energy and productivity

Alleviating dependence (on drink, substances, junk food etc.)

Fixing relationship issues

Overcoming trauma/processing grief

Enhancing performance in various arenas of life (exams, interviews, sport, entertainment, business and intimacy/sex)

Chronic pain management (IBS, back-pain, shoulder pain, headaches, etc.)

“The subconscious (or whatever the correct term is for that great under-intelligence we all have that comes to the surface now and then) is vastly powerful – much smarter and wisdom-infused than our everyday minds.”

Testimonials

Leah McLaren’s hynotherapy is a life-saver for me.

I suffer from chronic health problems and sometimes crippling anxiety, and Leah’s voice works to guide me into intense relaxation and a new-found belief in my own abilities. Every day I take thirty minutes out from my creative thinking and focus on my practical brain.

I’ve never been a believer in this kind of thing – having avoided meditation and yoga most of my life – I was skeptical. But Leah’s calm, confident words afford me a little break in this busy world to really consider what is important to me and what has been missing – relaxation, confidence, strength and my own inner ability.
